This weekend I finally fired up AccessXP and began work on the ADO-compliant version of OpenAccess. This isn't supported by Access97, but the current version of Miami will cater for Access97 stuff.
Here is the first screen shot of the internal database diagram. I have taken some of the ideas from Russell's "zUser" table in Mustang, but re-worked it considerably, as shown.
Also, I have been reworking the opening menu, based on the old Access Switchboard Manager idea, but with a few layout changes, and a two-tier menu system. The left hand menu with show menu groups or table names, such as Customers, Invoices, etc.
The right hand menu will show things like View/Update Customers, or Print Statement Wizard, and so on.
The eye candy pictures remain the same old size of 179 x 318, pioneered by the original Access97 switchboard. The application title area is considerably bigger, to allow for decent application names. The minumum application screen size will remain 800 x 600, but 1024 x 768 will be the default, to allow for better data entry and clearer options.
One other change: no more 5-letter form and report names. And proper adherence to the Reddick VBA Naming Conventions!
