If you don't want to deal with downloading and installing software (or you're a Mac or Linux user), there are online sudoku sites with the same features.
For instance, take a look at Fiendish Sudoku. The puzzle layouts are hand-made, not random computer-generated. Plus it has hints and step-by-step solutions, candidates, a choice of three grid sizes, and several options for printing.
